During her time inside prison, Joy has consistently been an advocate for the rights of herself and fellow women inside prison. Below are several grievances she has filed to promote policies that uphold human rights. The most pressing concern as of September 2020 is the privacy issue as all female prisoners at Bedford Hills had their privacy curtains taken away leaving herself and other women exposed to other prisoners and male guards while using the bathroom, sleeping, etc. Joy is asking people to contact Commissary and complain about the involuntary exposure (read the details in the Privacy Grievance below).
